Hi Folks -StorK v1.2 is a little button which appears in the status bar on your Newton's Notepad which allows you to conveniently select the default store, either the Newton's internal RAM or a card. When the button says "N", the default store is the Newton; when it says "C", the default store is a card. Tap the StorK button to switch the default store. To remove the StorK button use Extras->Prefs->Memory->Remove Software->StorK:tOP or Extras->Card->Remove Software->StorK:tOP.If the card is locked, and you tap the StorK button, you will get an error notification telling you that the card is write protected. Close the notification box, unlock the card, and tap the StorK button again to change the default store. The "N" or "C" on the StorK button can be incorrect under the following conditions:1. You used Extras->Card->Store New Items on Card to change the default store;-or-2. You removed a card which was the default store;-or-3. The default store is the Newton and you've inserted a card which is set to be the default store. To make sure the default store is where you want, tap the StorK button until it agrees with you. This will take a maximum of three taps. In general these situations only occur when the StorK is loaded into internal RAM or if you don't use it to change the default store.I have rewritten the StorK so it conforms to a newly emerging standard for adding buttons to the status bar of the Notepad application. StorK will now happily co-exist with other Notepad add-ins (or ons?), such as Jesse Devine's StatusBar Buttons. In fact, We've worked together on this to ensure compatibility. If you're interested in the standard for enhancing the NotePad status bar, e-Mail Jesse at Jester@applelink.apple.comVersion 1.1 now uses less than 3.5k of heap, and under 6.5k of package storage. The details of how this was done are too geeky for the general public, but if you're interested, drop me a line (contact info is at the end of this ReadMe).IMPORTANT!For Users of StorK v1.0:Use the Newton's Remove Software function to remove Version 1.0 of the StorK, either through Extras->Card->Remove Software, or Extras->Prefs->Memory->Remove Software. The package to remove is StorK:SIG. The new, improved StorK will have the package name StorK:tOP. The two StorKs do not play well together. For Users of StorK v1.1:Use the Newton's Remove Software function to remove Version 1.1 of the StorK, either through Extras->Card->Remove Software, or Extras->Prefs->Memory->Remove Software. The package to remove is StorK:tOP. The new, improved StorK will have the same package name and should replace the old one . However, just to be safe, I strongly recommend removing StorK v1.1 before loading StorK v1.2.Questions, Comments, Criticism's?Gregory N. ChristietheObjectPartnership195 East Litchfield RoadP.O.
